The Abertura plant was, at the moment of construction and in terms of production, the largest solar photovoltaic energy producing facility in Spain, and is located in the municipality of Abertura (Cáceres). Its installed capacity amounts to 23.1 MWp and is currently in operation under RD661/07. The electricity produced is connected to the local Iberdrola distribution grid.
